Francis Hennocque, see pp 7 and 10, called to express his gratitude for the attention that has been extended to him – Says has constant employment and is satisfied. I have seen JW Bell who informs me that F Hennocque conducts very satisfactorily.
Felix Macintire, born in Scotland – just discharged from Blackwells Island where has been two months for intemperance – wants employment – referred him to Com. De Kay.

Joseph Bell, about 60 years old - was born in France – has been in this country about thirty years – was convicted of a grand larceny in Queens County and sentenced to Sing Sing for four years – served his time out – was discharged yesterday – is warmly recommended by the Keeper and one of his assistants – the former says. “He has been here four years and I have taken great pains to enquire of former Keepers, who all unite in saying that they never had occasion even to admonish him.” He says that he is an adept in the business of shaving hoops and wishes to get employment with a Cooper. His appearance and deportment bespeak sincerity. Boards at the corner of Orchard and Houston St. I have become responsible for his board for two weeks.

James Hickey about 40 years old – born near Kilkenny, Ireland. was convicted for receiving stolen goods – in this City and was sentenced to Sing Sing for five years and one month – served his time out and was discharged yesterday – has two children in Ireland and a wife and three children in Brooklyn L I. The Keeper in a letter to Judge Edmons says “Hickey’s conduct has been of the very best character, since my acquaintance with him, which is nearly two years, and officers who have known him from the beginning of his incarceration testify strongly in his favor.”
“He is very desirous of being restored to Citizenship if it can be done, and in my opinion, if any man is entitled to such privilege, it cannot be extended to a more deserving man than Hickey.” He is a stone cutter and want employment. Employed at Grace Church –
