Francis H Jones called to say that he has steady employment with Otis R Potter and is quite happy – I called upon Otis R Potter who informs me that FH Jones is orderly and industrious – The first week he gave him two dollars for his services and since has paid him three dollars a week and expects that in a little time his services will be worth four or five dollars a week

Called at the dwelling of William Meighan 35 Desbroses St see page 6 – found his wife at the Wash tub- she has the appearance of an industrious woman with four children – two of them twins 10 months – she informed me that her husband was still intemperate and was not to be trusted – I had intended, if I had found his statement true to have given a small quantity of paper to sell but from  his wifes account I concluded it would be useless to attempt to render him any assistance – gave her 25 Cents.
